The city of Hawthorne is located in the southwestern part of Los Angeles County in the South Bay area. The population in 84,293 was 84,293.

To the north of the city is the community of Lennox, and Inglewood. To the east is Athens and Gardena. To the south they have Lawndale and Redondo Beach. On the southwest corner of is Manhattan Beach. The community of Del Aire is located on three sides of the city.
