Hermosa Beach
Hermosa Beach is a smaller city in the Los Angeles – South Bay Area. The area is known for luxury living and great views. The population is 19,506 in 2010.
Hermosa Beach is one of the three “Beach Cities” in the Los Angeles area. It is ordered by the other two. Manhattan Beach on the north, and Rodondo Beach on the south and east of the city.
The city is great for laying out in the sun, beach volleyball, surfing and paddleboarding. It’s a great, beautiful tourist city. The city is small, and it only extends around 15 blocks east to west, and 40 blocks north to south. The Pacific Coast Highway is the form of transportation for the city which runs down the middle.
Hermosa Beach has terrific temperatures. The average temperature for the city is 70 degrees in the summer, and 55 degrees in the winter. The city is typically sunny, for the sea breezes keeps the smog away nearly year round!
In the middle of the city, a paved pathway lined with shopping and eating places is called “The Strand.” This is one of the main attractions for the city, and is great to visit.
The wide, flat beach makes Hermosa Beach one of the most popular and recreational beaches in the South Bay area. It’s great to play sand volleyball, and there are all types of ages. From professional to amateur, the beach is used by all, and provide a great recreational activity for the community.
The city has 8 main parks that are famous and a great outdoor place to go. There is Cypress Park which is great for Baseball and Softball, Basketball and Tennis Courts. South Park, Bi-Centennial Park, Fort Lots-o-Fun, Noble Park, Edith Rodaway Friendship Park, Valley Park, and Kay Etow Park.

Hermosa Beach also has skateboarding park, roller hockey rink, and many other sports related parks and fields.
Hermosa Beach has its own elementary and middle schools, but the high school students are served by the fellow beach cities: Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. The education in those cities are in the 80-90 percentiles.
Homes in Hermosa Beach that are located on the Strand sell for in the millions. Usually they go for around $3-$10 million. The average home costs around $649 a square foot in 2006. The rest of the city has a great mix of apartments and neighborhoods in the upper and middle class.
