Torrance

The city of Torrance has 1.5 miles of shore front beaches along the Pacific Ocean. The city is located in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. The city enjoys a moderate year round warm climate, sea breezes, low humidity and little rainfall.

According to the 2010 census, the population of the city was 145,438. This city is known as a light-high-tech city, meaning it has 90,000 street trees and 30 city parks.

The city has a total area of 20.5 square miles, all land. The city lies between the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Redondo Beach and is in the Santa Monica Bay.

Torrance has one of the country’s few urban wetlands: The Madrona Marsh. It’s a nature preserve with restoration projects enhancing the vital habitat for birds, wildlife and native plants.

The city also has many parks. The Wilson Park is well known for its sports facilities and its extensive picnic facilities. It also has the Torrance Farmers Market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The Torrance Beach Park and Redondo and Torrance Beach lies on the southern coast of the Santa Monica Bay and includes “The Strand” which is a paved bicycle path that runs along the Pacific Ocean Shorline.

The Del Amo Fashion Center is one of the largest malls in the US and is in Torrance.
